August 5, 2017: Zikula 1.5.0 and 2.0.0 released

Zikula Core-1.5.0 has been released. Compared to Zikula Core-1.4.6 several improvements have been done and also a couple of new features have been included. For example the workflow component from Symfony can now be used and the integrated OAuth module allows for using Facebook, GitHub, Google or LinkedIn for authenticating at a Zikula site. The hook system has been overhauled and is now significantly more flexible. A detailed list of innovations can be found at the release page. Zikula Core-1.5 is an LTS core version which is going to be supported for a good while.

At the same time also Zikula Core-2.0.0 is available now. This is functionally identical with 1.5.0 except two essential changes: First, Zikula Core-2.0.0 is not based on Symfony 2.8 anymore, but on Symfony 3.3. Second, legacy support has been entirely removed. Thus modules only work with Zikula Core-2.0.0 if they are no longer using any deprecated functions. Also there is a release page available on GitHub.

The 1.5.x series will be supplied with corrections in parallel to the 2.0.x series. This means that all bugfixes are going to be included into 1.5.x as well as 2.0.x. The core developers aim at doing also future point releases simultaneously. New features however will not arrive until Zikula 2.1.0.
